19. Audience Research 1

This is a questionaire that I created in order to know what people expect to see in a promotional package and in an alternative dance music video.  I asked 20 people ranging from the ages of 10 to 21 and above, in order to make the results representative and generalisable. 

I separated my sections by having bold titles. The first section focuses on collecting demographics about the respondent so we can know more about our target audience and what appeals to them. In addition to finding the type of promotion most affective in reaching the audience.  The second section focuses on the conventions of our genre so that we know what is expected of Alternative Dance.

 The last section focuses on the artist's image so that we know how to present the artist when we are making our digipack.

I looked at representation, layout and iconography in 3 CD covers. I looked at the themes present in CD covers and the effects they have as well as the narrative behind the album design.

Then I wrote a comprehensive analysis of Pendulum's Cd cover so that I could uncover all the elements and procedures within the design. This will reveal the detail of thought needed to make a CD cover for my chosen genre.

14. Genre Research 2

Our group researched different areas within alternative music: I researched alternative rock, Mathew looked at alternative Indie whereas Grace looked at alternative dance. After our research we concluded that our genre would be alternative dance. Here is some videos from alternative dance that I have analysed.

The Vaccines- If you wanna

This is song from the genre alternative music, from legendary band The Vaccines. The above video shows the only song that they have written that has no video. Which means it could be used for our own video.

I studied the genre Alternative rock, my collage below shows an overview  of what viewers expect and recognize from alternative rock artists.  By looking into them I have found the similarities that generalise the requirements that alternative rock artists must have.
